Teaching Philosophy
I believe in a warm and customized approach to teaching students of all ages. My teaching philosophy is strongly influenced by the Suzuki method. Developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, the Suzuki method emphasizes listening and repetition and breaking down difficult concepts into small, easily managed segments. It is driven by positive reinforcement and a belief that any child can learn to play the violin. I am a Suzuki certified teacher who completed The School for Strings long term teacher training program under the tutelage of Allen Lieb and Ecaterina Gerson.
For me, the joy of teaching lies in watching my students grow as musicians and as people. I emphasize a relaxed, ergonomic set-up to enable a big, beautiful tone. I believe in achieving technical excellence in addition to musical expression.
I teach out of my home located in Riverdale, NY and also in-home lessons for an additional fee.
If you are interested in violin lessons or viola lessons, please contact me for information about rates and studio policies. Registration for Fall 2019 is now open! Limited availability!
